Manchester United have now officially confirmed the situation about Marcus Rashford’s injury, MySportDab reports.

Rashford will now undergo surgery on his shoulder next week.

The surgery will make him unavailable for upto three months.

Rashford is hopeful that he can return back to football in October.

However, he will now miss Manchester United’s first 11 Premier League matches of the season and Champions League games.

He will also miss England’s next five World Cup qualifier matches.

The decision to have surgery was made by Rashford and Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this week after much discussion.

The 23-year-old has been struggling with the shoulder injury since November.

United hoped that his three-week break after Euro 2020 would help solve the problem, but Rashford still wants to get an operation done.

A few days ago, Rashford had a scan on the shoulder, and the scan revealed that the muscle tear won’t get any worse.

But, Rashford just wants the problem to be fixed at once after requiring injections to play last season.

Manchester United released a statement saying: ‘After talks between Marcus, The Manager, Club Medical staff & Specialists, Marcus will now get an operation done to resolve his shoulder injury.

‘He will now start rehabilitation to return back as soon as possible.’

Marcus Rashford is determined to recover in time for Manchester United and England ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

Losing a key player like Rashford is a massive blow for United going into the 2021-22 season.

The Red Devils still have some strength in attack with the arrival of Jadon Sancho this summer.

Rashford’s injury could mean more game time for Dan James at Old Trafford next season.

United were ready to send James out on loan before.
