Chelsea vs Drogheda preseason friendly game that was supposed to hold earlier today have been called off, MySportDab reports.

The Blues have been dealt a huge blow in their preseason schedule and preparing after their game was called off last minute.

Chelsea were set to play the Irish side Drogheda at their training base on the outskirts of Dublin on Thursday evening but now it won’t be happening.

Chelsea Vs Drogheda preseason friendly game scheduled to happen earlier on Thursday night, MYSPORTDAB has learned that the reason is yet unknown.

Although other sources like Metro confirmed it was due to Covid-19 in the camp of their opponent that was suppose to play against them.

The game was supposed to be the Blues’ second friendly of the summer after their 6-1 win over Peterborough at Cobham last weekend which saw Hakim Ziyech getting a hat trick.

The players were instead had to go  through another training session on Thursday evening instead of playing the match.

With Chelsea Vs Drogheda not holding, the Blues will make a return back to England which will see them take on Bournemouth for a friendly on Tuesday, July 27.

With that being done, the Blues will go on The Mind Series of friendlies which will see them play against fellow London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.

The games will be played on August 1st and 5th respectively before Chelsea begin their season proper with Uefa Super Cup game against Villarreal.
