Manchester United executive chairman Ed Woodward has now sent a direct message to fans about the long-term future success plans, MySportDab reports.

United ended last season with a second place finish in the Premier League, a massive boost from their third-place finish in 2019-20 season.

However, United lost the Europa League final and remain without a trophy since 2017.

United entered the Europa League due to their exit in the Champions League Group stage in December.

Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been in charge for two-and-a-half years and will be offered a new contract despite his trophyless tenure.

Solskjaer’s current contract at Manchester United expires next year.

In a new official statement to Fans, Ed Woodward said: “The absence of fans in recent times has showed that they are a key part of the game.

“We remain hopeful about the possibility of fans returning to Old Trafford more over the next few months.

“We have put in place foundations for long-term success, which includes significant initiatives to strength our relationship with the fans ahead of the upcoming season.”

In their earnings for the third quarter of this year, United released a shocking net debt of £443.5m, with revenue down by only 4% despite no matchday revenue.

Dividends of £10.7m are still being paid, to the six Glazer Siblings, who are on the board of directors.

Manchester United start the new Premier League season with a match against Leeds on the weekend of August 14.
