Harry Maguire’s scheduled court appeal hearing in Greece is now more likely to be postponed due to the CoronaVirus pandemic, MySportDab reports.

Maguire, his brother, and a friend were found guilty of assaulting police, using abuse words, and attempted bribery in Greece.

The incident happended on the Greek island of Syros in 2020 and he was expected to return this summer to appeal his conviction.

However, a judicial official has stated that Maguire is unlikely to appear in Greece for his hearing this year due to the number of tribunal cases.

‘Only serious and urgent cases are being held,’ a top official said.

‘We have cases from several years and every week they are postponed even further. Very probably his case will not be ready until 2022.’

Thanks to that, Maguire will now focus on a busy next few months of football for club Manchester United and country England.

Maguire was arrested by some undercover police offers in Greece, who were focused on organised criminals in Mykonos last summer.

The incident became serious after claims that Maguire’s sister was injected with a substance by two Albanian men before they left the Fabrika part of the island.

As a result, a fight started with Maguire, his brother Joe and friend Christopher Sharman.

The 28-year-old has denied the accusations but still found guilty of assaulting and trying to bribe Greek police.

In an interview with the BBC, Maguire said he thought he was scared of being kidnapped by fake police officers in Mykonos.

Maguire and his lawyers immediately launched an appeal after he was given a suspended prison sentence.

Under Greek law, a new court case appeal will see Maguire’s case be retried with the higher tribunal.

At the higher tribunal, Maguire will face a three-judges panel in Greece.
