Fenerbahce have officially announced the signing of Mesut Ozil from Arsenal, MySportDab reports.

The transfer to Turkey brings an end to his tough seven-and-a-half years at Arsenal.

The 32-year-old joins the Turkish club on a free transfer after his £350,000-a-week contract at Arsenal was terminated.

The news is not yet officially confirmed by both clubs, but Ozil has now officially spoken about the transfer.

Ozil confirmed his transfer in a interview with Turkish TV channel NTV.

‘I have always been a Fenerbahce fan, and I am happy to return back to Turkey with Fenerbahce,’ Ozil said.

‘I’m excited. God have given me the opportunity to wear this jersey as a Fenerbahce fan. With God’s blessing, I will now wear it with honour and do everything for the team,’ he added.

‘Yes, I have missed matches. I haven’t played in a long time, but I am fit with no no issues.’

The Fenerbahce transfer brings an end Ozil’s controversial spell in north London.

Ozil won three FA Cups, and one Community Shield after he joined from Real Madrid in a £42.5m deal.

The World Cup winner with Germany has not players for the Gunners for over 10 months, and his last appearance came in the 1-0 win against West Ham.

Ozil leaves Arsenal after playing 254 matches for the club, scored 44 goals and provided 77 assists during his seven years stay.

He was named the Arsenal’s 2015-16 Player of the Season, when they finished second behind Leicester City in the Premier League.

In 2015, Ozil was named the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month on three different occasions.

He played in the 2014 FA Cup final win against Hull City, which ended Arsenal’s nine-years without a trophy.

Ozil also played in the 2018 EFL Cup final loss against Manchester City.

However, since he signed a new £350,000 contract in 2018, which made him the highest-paid player at the club, he struggled to perform.

Ozil had a difficult relationship with Unai Emery and still did not perform.
