Manchester City have confirmed that defender Kyle Walker and forward Gabriel Jesus have both now tested positive for coronavirus, MySportDab reports.

Walker and Jesus will now sit out the Boxing Day match against Newcastle at the Ethiad stadium.

A club statement said: “Manchester City can officially confirm that Gabriel Jesus, Kyle Walker, and some staffs have returned a positive COVID-19 result.

“All personnels will now observe self-isolation according to Premier League and UK Government protocols.

“We wish our colleagues a speedy recovery during this festive period ahead of their return later on.”

Walker and Jesus could also miss the match against Everton on December 28.

It remains unknown if they can play in the crucial match against Chelsea on January 3rd.

However, Coach Pep Guardiola has all his players back in the team for the Newcastle match.

Sergio Aguero is coming back into the team gradually after his long time out injured.

Recently, City thrashed London hopefuls Arsenal 4-1 to reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

But, Pep Guardiola hopes his side can keep up this form during the festive period.

“It’s like how things are in Manchester. It rains almost every time,” he said.

“One day the sun rises, it doesn’t mean the weather won’t change. It was only one match but we will see what happens next.

“But we are delighted to have reached the semi-finals again, doing it for four years in a row now. We started great.”

Manchester City Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is also available for the Newcastle game.
