Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has insisted that the Premier League are making unfair demands and “not physically possible” on players, MySportDab reports.

Liverpool have been seriously affected by injuries in recent months with Alexander-Arnold also now sidelined.

The England man has a calf injury, he sustained at Manchester City while Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez facd missing the rest of the Premier League season.

Also, other Liverpool players like Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Alisson, Naby Keita, and Thiago Alcantara, have fitness issues.

Now, Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Alexander-Arnold has revealed that players are suffering from a crazy fixture schedule.

Liverpool Coach Jurgen Klopp has made clear repeatedly on his frustrations with the TV broadcasters.

The Reds face Brighton today (Saturday) at 12.30pm this weekend after facing Atalanta in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Trent Alexander-Arnold said: “We are paid to play football, so we won’t complain about having games to play. But we have to think about our bodies. It’s not ideal to put a human body through so much.

“Like marathon runners, and cyclists on the Tour de France. They train for a long time to compete.

“You have to train for those distances, and our bodies aren’t trained for that. We have 90 minute, we have to recover from that before the next game.

“But when you’re asked to do it quickly, it’s absolutely unfair and the human body can’t cope with that.

“You’ve got to think about the three-month lockdown, we had to stay as fit as possible.

“We were doing four or five training sessions a week, not knowing when we are coming back. We had to stay match fit in case it came back anytime.

“Going straight back into Matches. It hurt many players without much of a build-up.”

The 22-year-old agrees with Jurgen Klopp that reverting to the use of three substitutes, instead of five as the Premier League did post-restart, is affecting players.

Liverpool got around four weeks off between the end of last season and start of this season.

The Reds have now played 16 competitive matches since August 29, with three international breaks in between.
