Arsenal are already working on an improved bid for midfielder Houssem Aouar after Lyon rejected their first offer this week, MySportDab reports.

Arsenal are determined to sign the 22-year-old and are set to raise the rejected £32m bid to £36.5m plus £9m in add-ons.

The Gunners have been linked with Houssem Aouar and Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey this summer.

Aouar has already played over 130 matches for Lyon during his time at the french club.

Arsenal Coach Mikel Arteta has told the board that Aouar is key for his plans in a style 4-3-3 formation.

Despite the fact they reject the first bid, Lyon club president Jean-Michel Aulas revealed that the club would only sell Aouar for the right price.

He wrote: ‘For Aouar, Arsenal are too far from his value, we value him as a key player and hope he can us in the Champions League next year.’

Aouar was previously valued at £54m but MySportDab understands that Lyon will lower their asking price amid the global pandemic.

Aouar is ready to leave the Ligue 1 club before the end of this summer transfer window.

Any deal for Aouar must be finalised before the transfer window deadline on October 5.
