Manchester United Coach Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is confident they are still in the race for a top four finish, MySportDab reports.
The Red Devils missed the opportunity to go third in the Premier League table as Southampton scored a 96th-minute goal to draw 2-2 at Old Trafford.
Chelsea in third were defeated 3-0 by Sheffield United on Saturday and Leicester City were beaten 4-1 by Bournemouth on Sunday which was a major boost to Manchester United’s Champions League hopes.
However, there was more pressure on Monday morning after Manchester City’s two-year European ban was overturned.
United could have gone above Chelsea and Leicester if they won against Southampton but Michael Obafemi’s last goal brought them on the same points with the Foxes.
With only three games left in the season, United may not get a better chance to move into the top four race.
But Solskjaer is confident his team will return to winning ways against Crystal Palace on Thursday.
“It’s football,” Solskjaer said.
“There are very key parts in every football match.
“We’ll take the draw and focus on Thursday and travel to Selhurst Park.”
However, Solksjaer will not let his players focus too much on the missed opportunity as they need to look ahead.
“That’s the worst time to concede but it that happens in football, you’ve just have to be stronger and take it, we’ve won so many matches that way too,” Solskjaer added.
“It’s a lesson for the team to be there, we’re very disappointed, because the three points were in the bag.
“But maybe we didn’t deserve three points. They played very well. They’re strong, very fit.
“Martial had two good chances that he created for himself and the goal was very, very good.
“It was one of those days where we failed to take our chances and it cost us.
“David made one really good save, apart from that we did create bigger chances, we could have won the three points.
“But then, you’re not just going to get the three points.”
Manchester United play next against Crystal Palace on Thursday.
