Barcelona Legend Xavi revealed that he has tested positive for coronavirus and is now in self-isolation, MySportDab reports.

The 40-year-old former Barcelona player is now the manager of Qatar club Al Sadd.

Xavi will miss the club’s Qatari Stars League game Vs Al Khor on Saturday due to his revelation.

He shared a message on Instagram: ‘Some days ago, after the QSL (Qatar Stars League) protocol, I tested positive during the last COVID19 test.

‘I’m feeling ok, but I will be in self isolated until I am given all clear. When the health services agree, I will be eager to return back to my daily routine and work.

‘I want to thank all the authorities, including those working in QSL, the Qatar Football Association and Al-Sadd for providing the methods of early detection, reducing the spread and that guarantees the normal development.’

Xavi was preparing to take charge of his team ahead of the Qatar domestic season restart which was suspended back in March.

The former midfielder will also be unable to visit the club’s training sessions during his isolation period.

Al Sadd’s reserves coach (David Prats) will instead take charge for the main time.

According to reports from Johns Hopkins University, Qatar has more than 108,000 confirmed Covid-19 cases with 164 dead people.
