RB Leipzig Coach Julian Nagelsmann has revealed that he won’t consider the possibility of Timo Werner not playing for the Bundesliga club in the Champions League, MySportDab reports.
Chelsea are expected to announce the £53million deal for Werner and personal terms are agreed.
The Bundesliga season ends on June 27 but RB Leipzig have a Champions League quarter-final round to play in August.
MySportDab understands that the 24-year-old is concerned about picking up an injury that would affect his life at Chelsea and could snub any request from Leipzig to continue playing.
However, with the £53m transfer not yet to be completed, Nagelsmann has spoken about the situation.
“It’s not like people say that I don’t fight for him,” Nagelsmann said.
“He knows I like him very much and what I think of him. Which is why he plays each week and also played if when not fully fit.
“That’s enough confirmation. Nevertheless, there are things that go beyond the coach’s wish. Each player has his career and life ahead.
“The transfer is not yet completed, so we should not talk about step two.
“If step one is completed, we’ll see how the Champions League proceeds.”
