Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has remained in constant contact with former team-mates Chris Smalling and Ashley Young about the Italian Serie A, MySportDab reports.

According to The Independent, Lingard could be ready to leave Manchester United this summer.

The England man has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford.

Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to sell him in recent months but dropped him from some games after a poor run of form.

MySportDab understands that United would sell him this summer if they receive the right bid, with the 27-year-old  not part of the Norwegian’s plans.

Now, it appears Lingard wants a move to Italy.

Manchester United have sold various players to the Serie A in recent years such as Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Chris Smalling.

Most of these players have been successful since leaving for Italy apart from Alexis Sanchez.

And it appears Lingard wants to follow their footsteps, as the Independent claims he still talks to Smalling and Young, and has asked about the league.

Jesse Lingard

Jesse Lingard has been at United for years and was not sold despite criticism by fans.

He was in the 2015 FA Cup-winning team, and has failed to show that form ever since.

Lingard scored the winning goal at Wembley in the match against Crystal Palace, which he believes is his finest in a Manchester United shirt.

“That team had a lot of young players and most of us had never won the a trophy or the FA Cup. Rooney and Michael Carrick had never won it,” he told United’s website.

“It was very important for us to win it and important for us, as young players, to win our first trophy for the club, to get back to winning ways.

“When you win that trophy, the hunger to go on is there and win more.

“It was a combination of everything, the atmosphere was fantastic at Wembley.

“It can’t have been a better day in any way for us.”
