Arsenal defender David Luiz has apologised to fans after his two errors cost Mikel Arteta’s team against Manchester City in a shocking 3-0 defeat on Wednesday night, MySportDab reports.

David Luiz was at fault for City’s first goal, before conceding a penalty and being sent off in the process.

In the 2nd half, Luiz chased down Riyad Mahrez on the edge of the penalty area, before bringing him down inside the box.

Referee Paul Tierney pointed to the spot and showed David Luiz a red card.

Speaking after the match, Luiz came out from the dressing room to apologise to fans.

“Simple as that, it was my fault, it was not the team’s fault,” Luiz said.

“I should have taken another decision in the last two months, I have 14 days left here and that’s it. Today it was absolutely my fault.

“I should have decided my future as early as possible.

“Today, the team I believe did well, especially with 10 men.

“The Coach is amazing, all the players performed well, it was just my fault.

“I should have made a decision over the last few months, I didn’t.

“I don’t want to use it a an excuse, it was just my fault, and I take responsibility for it.”

David Luiz contract at Arsenal will expire in the next two weeks and he is yet to sign a new extension at the Emirates.
