Football agent Mino Raiola has revealed that his client Erling Braut Haaland rejected a move to Juventus in January, MySportDab reports.
After playing in the Champions League at Red Bull Salzburg for some part of the 2019-20 season, 19-year-old Haaland signed for Dortmund in January in a £17m deal.
However, Juventus were also interested in Haaland, who has scored 13 goals in 12 games for Dortmund.
And now his agent Raiola has revealed why Haaland decided not to join Juventus in the January transfer window.
‘Why Haaland sign for Juventus? They wanted to put him in the Under-23 squad,’ Raiola told La Repubblica.
Juventus may now be regretting not signing Haaland, who has now become one of the best strikers in Europe’s top leagues.
The 19-year-old has scored yet again for Borussia Dortmund in Saturday’s Bundesliga 4-0 win against Schalke.
The win moved Dortmund a point behind rivals Bayern Munich, before the Champions later sealed a 2-0 win over Union Berlin on Sunday to extend their lead at the top.
Haaland has now scored 41 goals in 34 matches this season across all competitions.
Haaland’s contract at Borussia Dortmund has a £63m release clause which can only be activated in 2021.
