Manchester United are ready to rival Real Madrid in any future transfer battle for Borussia Dortmund Striker Erling Haaland, MySportDab reports.

The Norway international joined the Bundesliga club in the January transfer window and his goal scoring form has caught the attention of Europe’s top clubs.

Manchester United Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer held talks with Haaland before his January move but the Old Trafford hierarchy refused to accept the player’s representatives idea to include a release clause in his contract.

But According to ESPN, United are still interested in pursuing a deal for Haaland when the time comes for him to leave Dortmund.

However, they face serious competition from Real Madrid who are in search for Karim Benzema’s long-term replacement.

The Spanish club have struggled to score goals this season, relying mostly on Benzema despite paying £62million to sign Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer.

And now a £63m release clause inserted in Haaland’s contract when he joined Dortmund in January has put the Spanish club on red alert.

The 19-year-old will be allowed to leave for £63m from next season which is below his market value.

MySportDab understands Dortmund are hoping to keep him for another season though Jadon Sancho is expected to leave the club this summer.

Manchester United have been in search for a striker since Romelu Lukaku left in the summer for Inter Milan.

Odion Ighalo was signed in January on loan and it looks likely the Nigerian will sign a permanent deal but the club are still searching for a forward.

So far, Haaland has scored 12 goals in 11 matches for Borussia Dortmund since his move from Salzburg, taking his goal tally for the season to 40 in 33 games across all competitions.
