Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has admitted that he endured a ‘tough time’ at the club under Jose Mourinho, MySportDab reports.

But Rashford believes that the Portuguese made him even stronger mentally.

Mourinho was Manchester United Coach from 2016 until December 2018, and also won the League Cup and Europa League in 2017.

During Mourinho’s reign at United, he was often criticised for the team’s mostly defensive style of play, while he had Bust-ups with players such as Paul Pogba.

MySportDab understands Rashford scored 28 goals and provided 20 assists under Mourinho, now at Tottenham.

The 22-year-old has spoken on his time under Mourinho and remains grateful for the experience that he gained.

‘It was very tough but I think when you remember it after five or six years they’re the moments that made you mentally tough,’ Rashford told the Official Manchester United Podcast.

‘As a footballer I’ve improved a lot and it’s thanks to those two years under Jose. We had good and difficult times. Whenever I look back at it, it was a very crucial period but a period that made me a better player.’

Mourinho often played Rashford out wide, with the England international learning to become more helpful defensively.

During Mourinho’s reign, he committed more fouls than usual and received 13 yellow cards even a red card.

Since Mourinho’s exit, Rashford has impressed and even scored 19 goals in 31 matches for United this season.
