Former Marseille President Pape Diouf Dies After Coronavirus Infection!

The former club president of Marseille Pape Diouf has sadly died aged 68 after being infected by the deadly Coronavirus, MySportDab reports. 

The 68-year-old in Senegal was being treated against the virus.

Diouf is forever a legend after becoming the first black president of a top European football club when he was announced as President of Marseille in 2005.

A statement from Marseille read: “Olympique de Marseille have been informed with great sadness of the passing of Pape Diouf.

“He will remain forever in the hearts of Marseillais as one of the great mean of the history of the football club.

“Our condolences go to his family and loved ones.”

Diouf arrived Marseille at the age of 18 and ended up becoming a football journalist.

He made his progress fast and into football agency before getting the job at Marseille, one of the best clubs in France.

Diouf was replaced by Jean-Claude Dassier in 2009.

French Football authorities have now also paid tribute to Diouf after his death was announced.
