European football expert Gabriele Marcotti believes that Chelsea must not pay £85million for Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey, MySportDab reports.

According to recent reports, Chelsea are preparing a £85million offer for the Jamaica international Bailey.

But Marcotti believes Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is a far better option for the Blues.

Sancho

Jadon Sancho is a top target for Chelsea, Manchester United and a host of Europe’s top clubs.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are also interested in Bailey but Chelsea are currently leading the way.

Sancho Vs Bailey?

MySportDab can confirm that 19-year-old Jadon Sancho has a better record in the Bundesliga this season than Bailey, scoring 14 goals and providing 15 assists in his 23 matches.

Meanwhile, Leon Bailey has made just 14 league appearances this season due to injury, scoring only five goals and having one assist.

Marcotti does not think Sancho would cost much more than Bailey and therefore says he would be a better signing for Chelsea.

Bailey

“Sincerely, all respect to Leon Bailey I think these numbers are absolutely outrageous,” Marcotti told ESPN FC.

“£85m for Bailey when Jadon Sancho, who is younger and a lot more talented can be signed for not much more.

“Personally I see this rumour with Bailey as one of those stories that puts fire out there, obviously Chelsea are interested in Jadon Sancho along with others clubs, and all of sudden these stories go out? It’s shocking.

“But for me It’s unrealistic, I would never spend that kind of money on Leon Bailey.”

Sancho has been linked with a transfer to Liverpool but Reds legend John Barnes does not think Anfield would be good move for the teenager.

Barnes told Bonus Code: “If Jadon Sancho is ready to come to Liverpool and not play every game and sits on the bench, then absolutely he can come to Liverpool.

“But I always tell young stars to be careful and play at a high level for more years before leaving to a bigger club.

“Salah and Mane have been here for four or five seasons now and have shown their experience and quality.

“Meanwhile, Sancho has been around for just 18 months and needs to now show us that consistency over a three-year period before he leaves for £100million to a huge club.”
