Manchester United Striker Odion Ighalo is prepared to cut half of his current salary to seal a permanent move at Old Trafford in the summer transfer window, MySportDab reports.
The Nigerian is prepared to take a large pay cut in order to seal his dream permanent transfer at Old Trafford.
Ighalo, who is currently at United on loan deal from Chinese Club Shanghai Shenhua until the end of the season, has made an impressive start to life at Old Trafford.
The 30-year-old has bagged in four goals in eight games for United across all competitions.
MySportDab understands Ighalo is currently earning a reported £240,000-a-week wages at Shanghai Shenhua.
And According to The Sun, Ighalo is ready to take a 50 per cent pay cut to stay at the Manchester club he loves and supported as a boy.
This means reducing his annual salary to just over £6million to make the transfer permanent in the summer.
United are unlikely to pay him as much unlike in his Shanghai Shenhua contract and the former Watford striker is happy with that, if it means he could stay at Old Trafford.
Ighalo’s current deal expires on January 1st 2021 but under the loan agreement, Manchester United have an option to buy the player in the summer window.
Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua only paid £5.27m for Ighalo last year, but are looking to recoup around three times that from United.
According to the Mirror, Shanghai Shenhua want United to pay at least £15m to sign Ighalo.
While the buy option exists, MySportDab can confirm that no fee was agreed when the player switch to Old Trafford on deadline day in the January transfer window.
Manchester United have been in the transfer market for a striker since they sold Romelu Lukaku last summer to Inter Milan.
The club failed to sign Erling Haaland from RB Salzburg in January, with the Norwegian youngster opting to join Borussia Dortmund.
Ighalo was seen as a risky signing in January because the striker had only scored one goal in 18 matches for Watford in his previous campaign in the Premier League but he has proved his doubters wrong.
