BREAKING! UEFA Ready To Suspend Champions League, Europa League Over CoronaVirus Outbreak!

UEFA is currently planning to suspend the Champions League and Europa League over the deadly coronavirus fears, MySportDab reports. 

According to Spanish Newspaper Marca, The Champions League and Europa League competitions will both be postponed by UEFA within the next few days.

The suspension is due to coronavirus fears, which has now escalated to football clubs in recent days.

UEFA are set to hold a meeting on Tuesday (March 17) to decide a response to the global pandemic.

This comes as a response to Real Madrid being quarantined for 14days on Thursday morning.

The entire Real Madrid squad have been told to stay in self-isolation after a basketball team player tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Los Blancos basketball squad and the football team both use the same training facilities.

Immediately after it was made public that the Real Madrid squaf were quarantined, La Liga announced a decision to suspend all La Liga matches.

Senior figures at UEFA want European competitions to be suspended for sometime, with the virus starting to affect a number of football teams.

Real Madrid’s match against Manchester City, in the Champions League Last-16 will now be suspended after the club was sent into quarantine.

Meanwhile, Wolves have travelled to Greece to face Olympiakos in the Europa League despite the club owner being tested positive for the deadly virus.

Manchester United have also travelled to Austria for their match against LASK in the Europa League on Thursday, while Rangers play Bayer Leverkusen.

UEFA announced today, that it will hold a meeting with all football authorities to discuss the planned response to the CoronaVirus outbreak.

MySportDab can confirm that Spanish La Liga has been suspended until  April 5, while the Serie A had already been postponed until April 3.

In France, all Ligue 1 games will be played behind closed doors until April 15.

Some Bundesliga and Netherlands matches are to be played behind closed doors.

Meanwhile, the Premier League has yet to take any action regarding the CoronaVirus outbreak apart from suspending Manchester City vs Arsenal game on Tuesday.

A new statement from UEFA read: “Due to the recent developments in the spread of COVID-19 across Europe and the analysis of the World Health Organisation, UEFA has today invited all representatives of its 55 member associations, together with a representative of FIFPro, boards of the European Club Association and the European Leagues to attend meetings by video conference scheduled for Tuesday 17 March to decided on European football’s response to the outbreak.

“Talks will include all European and domestic competitions, including EURO 2020. Further details will be made following those meetings.”
