Arsenal Coach Mikel Arteta has spoken about the injury suffered by midfielder Lucas Torreira in their FA Cup win over Portsmouth last night, MySportDab reports.
Lucas Torreira is now a huge doubt after being stretchered off in the FA Cup win on Monday  over Portsmouth.
The Gunners won 2-0 winners at Fratton Park against their League One opponents but Torreira’s injury was not any good at all.
The Uruguayan lasted less than 15 minutes on the night after a strong challenge from James Bolton left the 24-year-old in agony.
Torreira was holding his leg and visibly in serious pain and had to be stretched of and given oxygen by Arsenal’s medical staff before he was replaced by Dani Ceballos.
“Lucas was very bad and was in pain. He will be further assessed in the coming days and then we will know more,” Arsenal Coach Mikel Arteta told BT Sport.
Having not lost to Portsmouth since 1958, Arsenal looked very comfortable ok the night despite some serious threats from the host in the first half.
The home team had only one shot on target throughout the match and just 26 per cent possession with Arsenal dominant and getting their victory.
MySportDab understands Reiss Nelson provided the assist both goals, a brilliant cross for defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who did a stunning volley beyond Alex Bass in goal.
Nelson was crucial again after half-time with Arsenal in control in the second 45, passing into Eddie Nketiah to control and put into the roof of the net.
The 2-0 win was enough for 13-time FA Cup winners Arsenal to seal their place in the last eight.
Arteta added: “It’s a difficult venue to come but I had faith in these kids
.
“They always respond well and I always knew they would do that.”
Arsenal will know their FA Cup quarter-final opponents on Wednesday night as they seek hope for a Wembley return.
