Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen has revealed that he was treated like a “black sheep” at Tottenham and left the club to win trophies, MySportDab reports.
Eriksen further stated that he was often made to feel like the bad person in the Tottenham dressing room because he wanted to leave the club in the January.
Before the January window closed, Tottenham sold Christian Eriksen to Inter Milan for £17million.
The Denmark international has now slammed his former club Spurs, and revealed he felt punished for speaking about his desire to leave.
Eriksen first revealed his desire to leave Tottenham after last season’s Champions League final against Liverpool.
He made it clear that he wanted a new challenge, which brought about links with some of Europe’s best clubs.
But in the summer, Spurs refused to sell for a lower fee which meant that he had to stay at the club for another six months.
“If you have a short contract, you are the black sheep,” Eriksen told BBC Sport.
“Of course, I did an interview. I was very honest. I felt I needed to be honest.
“I didn’t plan to hide like many players do. Everyone is different. I was very honest. I wanted to say it out very loud.
“I got blamed for a lot of stuffs, for being that bad guy.
“I read that I was the bad person in the changing room; that ever since I said I demanded to leave, it was no good for me to be there.
“To be sincere, over the last few years, if something came up, any player would think about a new challenge. But I was the guy who make it very public.”
Eriksen has already made his debut for Inter Milan in the Serie A, playing for 58 minutes in the 2-0 win against Udinese last weekend.
The 27-year-old also played in Inter’s Coppa Italia match against Fiorentina at the end of January.
The Denmark international made over 220 appearances for Tottenham during his six-and-a-half year reign, scoring 31 goals.
