Hoffenheim 0-6 Bayern Munich, Coutinho Scores Brace, Game Interrupted For 20’mins (Video Highlight)
Bayern have been 6-0 up when their followers unfurled an offensive banner about Hoffenheim president Dietmar Hopp.
The game was delayed for about 20 minutes as Bayern’s staff and players begged their fans to put the banner away before the referee took them down the tunnel.
The match sooner or later restarted from seventy seven minutes, with followers informed it would be abandoned if the banner appeared again.
Bayern’s and Hoffenheim’s players then simply kicked the ball between themselves – with goalkeepers no longer in their goals – to get the game to its conclusion.
At the remaining whistle, 79-year-old Hopp was given a standing ovation alongside Bayern chief government Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and the players on the pitch in a show of solidarity.
Hopp is a divisive persona in German football, having bankrolled Hoffenheim up from the fifth tier, one of three exceptions to the 50+1 rule which means individuals should own more than half the shares in their club.
