Manchester United cannot recall Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford after serious injuries to key players because there is no recall clause in his loan deal to Inter Milan, MySportDab reports.
With Marcus Rashford injured and ruled out for three months, Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that United will look at securing possible loan deals as replacement for their 22-year-old striker.
But with 11 days left in the January transfer window remaining, United now face a difficult task to strengthen their squad having allowed Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku to leave in the summer.
While Lukaku’s transfer to Inter was permanent, Sanchez signed for Inter instead on loan until the end of the season and could have been recalled if only United used their senses.
MySportDab understands that both clubs did not include a clause enabling United to recall him back, even though they still pay half of his £300,000-weekly wages.
The 31-year-old has recently returned to football after a long time out after dislocating his left ankle on international duty with Chile in October.
Sanchez so far had only played 129 minutes in total for Inter at the time.
While he was seen as a flop at Old Trafford following a huge transfer from Arsenal in January 2018 which made him the highest-paid player in the Premier League, Sanchez would have been a useful help today.
Sanchez could still have provided some more help in attack for the Manchester United Squad which is now limited to Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Dan James.
Speaking after United’s 2-0 defeat against Liverpool on Sunday, Solksjaer said: ‘We might have to look at some possible loan, short-term deals and that could take us till the end of the season.
‘We’re looking at what we have and if it’s right, then we could buy…if it’s a loan, it’s still an option.’
