Luis Enrique: ‘There Is No Team That Is Better Than Us’

Luis Enrique has come out to make a powerful statement ahead of the Paris Saint-Germain clash against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final this week.

The Spanish coach is confident in his team’s ability heading into another massive game of the season, which could push them one step closer to reclaiming their Champions League title.

Ahead of the first leg clash in France, Luis Enrique made some clear and strong statements during his press conference earlier today.

The PSG manager is aware of the team they are up against, and he isn’t playing down what their opponent can do despite his statement.

The French Champions will play host to Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich, which has been scoring for fun throughout the current season.

During his press conference, Luis Enrique made several points clear as he showered praise on Bayern’s consistency this season.

Enrique said: “There is no team that is better than us. I already said this after losing the top 8”.

“These are the two best teams in Europe even if Arsenal also had a great season.

“In terms of consistency, Bayern is a bit ahead of us because they only lost two matches.

The Paris Saint-Germain coach, went on to talk about their historic 2024/2025 season, which saw them win many trophies.

They won everything except the FIFA Club World Cup, which they lost against Chelsea Enzo Maresca’s in the United States.

Enrique reacted: “We made history one year ago, it’s been nice… but we want more”.

“We’re hungry. It’s not enough.

Enrique emphasized that PSG’s strength lies in their balance, noting that the team’s attacking flair is matched by their defensive solidity.

He dismissed the idea of a clear favorite for the clash, describing it as an attractive spectacle between two sides at the peak of their powers.

A significant boost for the Parisians is the return of a full-strength squad, a situation Enrique jokingly compared to a lottery because of the difficult selection choices he now faces.

The PSG boss also expressed mutual respect for his counterpart, Vincent Kompany, praising the Belgian’s attacking philosophy and the top-level quality within the Bayern ranks.

Despite the threat posed by Bayern’s clinical wingers, Enrique insisted his full-backs, Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes, would not be restricted to defensive roles.

The PSG manager said his side needs to do more than defend if they stand any chance of beating Bayern Munich for a UEFA Champions League final ticket in 2025/2026.
