FT: Arsenal 1–2 Bournemouth, Gunners Suffer SHOCK DEFEAT! [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]

Arsenal have suffered setback in their push for the Premier League title this season as they fell to a shock home defeat Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth, MySportDab reports.

The Gunners headed into the game nine points clear at the top of the table and needed victory to close in on their over-a-decade wait for the English championship, with Manchester City snapping on their heels for the coveted trophy.

Bournemouth have been giants slayers this season and the Gunners provided a sterner test of not just the Cherries’ grit, but push for European football next season.

Things got off to a frantic start between the two sides with Bournemouth silencing the home fans with a strong and competitive start.

They matched Arsenal’s momentum, wielding possession, charging down the attack, and creating a slew of chances.

17 minutes into the kickoff, the away side’s strong start yielded result as Kroupi got them in front with a beautiful volley at the back post.

After Kroupi’s opener, Arsenal stepped up proceedings in search of an equaliser and their moment came in the 35th minute via a spot kick.

Viktor Gyokeres converted it spot kick with aplomb to leave things for the Gunners and it ended squared at the interval.

In the second half, Bournemouth had the upper hand and were looking set to retake the lead. 16 minutes before regulation, Scott finally got the Cherries back in front and the goal was enough to secure a shock 2–1 away victory for the Andoni Iraola’s team.

They have moved to ninth in the standings with 45 points following the victory – just a point adrift of European places, while Arsenal are just nine points above City, who have two games in hand.
