Tottenham Close In On Roberto De Zerbi As New Manager

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly close to appointing Roberto De Zerbi as the club’s new manager, MySportDab reports.

The Lilywhites are enduring a turbulent in the Premier League this season and are desperately looking for a new hand to turn around their fortunes.

De Zerbi is understood to have been in the club’s radar since the sack of Thomas Frank earlier this season, but the Italian and former Olympique Marseille boss wanted only a summer switch.

With Tottenham Hotspur now on the brink of a historic relegation into the English second division, the club’s hierarchy have reportedly step up their approach to bring him on board as quickly as possible.

The expedite the process, he has been reportedly offered a crazy contract offer that will see him become the Premier League’s second highest-paid manager behind Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola.

To further assuage his fears,  close sources reveal Tottenham are open to adding a release clause to his contract that will allow him leave should the club fail to survive the drop.

De Zerbi established himself as one of the top managers in Europe following his exploit in the reins as Brighton boss.

He is known for his possessive, controlled, and attacking style similar to Pep Guardiola’s style.  His potential emergence as Tottenham Hotspur’s new manager will mark his second spell in the Premier League as manager.

He recently left his role as Olympique Marseille manager in February following a standoff with the club’s hierarchy and could now face a more difficult challenge of saving Spurs from the drop.
