Neymar Confirms Retirement Plans After World Cup

Brazil sensation Neymar has confirmed his plan to bring his storied career with the Brazil national team to an end, MySportDab reports.

The former Barcelona, PSG, and Al-Hilal forward has seen his career take a drastic downturn since his exited Barcelona to PSG on a record transfer fee.

Niggling injury cases has made matters worse for him, seeing him play a bit-part role both in club and national team football.

Currently plying his trade with boyhood club Santos, the 34-year-old is hoping for at least a last chapter with the Brazil national before calling time on his career.

In a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, he has hinted that the 2026 World Cup will be his last World Cup with the Brazil national team as he plans to quit international football after the tournament.

“Of course it’s my last World Cup… my career is coming to an end, it won’t be much longer”.

“I tell my friends and family: enjoy every game,” he said.

Neymar’s comments is coming just a day after Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti left him out of the Brazil squad for their preparatory friendlies against France and Croatia before the 2026 World Cup.

Ancelotti named a strong 26-man squad for the friendlies – a list that has been presumed to mirror players expected to make the team’s final 2026 Word Cup list.

Neymar registered his disappoinment for not making the list, but remains optimistic of making the final list despite that omission.

Meanwhile, Ancelotti revealed the former Barcelona sensation still have a chance of making his World Cup squad, but must be 100% percent fit.
