New Favorite Emerges as Man United Trim Down Managerial Shortlist To Three Names

A new favourite has emerged as Manchester United narrow down their potential permanent manager to three names, MySportDab reports.

United have been in search of a permanent manager since relieving Ruben Amorim of the role and replacing the Portuguese with Michael Carrick as interim manager.

Premier League bigwig bosses Marco Silva, Thomas Frank, including Unai Emery were prominent mentions in United’s sketch to take over from Carrick at the end of the season.

Germany national team head coach Julian Nagelsmann and PSG boss Luis Enrique also made the cut, with Carrick also in the radar, but down the pecking due to his lack of experience at elite level in the job.

Now, according to various sources, United have narrowed down the names to just three comprising of Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique and Michael Carrick, with Carrick now pulling clear of other contenders due to his instant impact since assuming the role on the interim.

The report adds United hierarchy believes Carrick could deliver on permanent basis, having outperformed his Premier League rivals.

His synergy with the players, popularity with the fans and deeper connection to the club on a personal level is said to be his biggest card over experienced names like Nagelsmann and Enrique.

Generally, the feeling is that the former-player-turned-manager is a good bet not just to get United out of the woods despite his inexperience, but rewrite the narrative of the club’s on-field misfortunes in recent years.

His experience in the Premier League and in English football in general also separates him from the likes of Enrique and Nagelsmann.

Carrick has won seven matches, drawn two and lose one since taking over as United interim manager in January, leading the team to a strong position (third) in the race for Champions League football next season.
