Kylian Mbappe has vented his spleen on his Real Madrid teammates following their shock Champions League defeat to Benfica last night, MySportDab reports.
Real Madrid went into the game third in the Champions League standings with 15 points and needed just a draw to make the top eight for automatic qualification to the round of 16.
Mbappe got the team in front in the 30th minute, but Benfica found the equaliser and even overturned the result, leading 2–1 before the break.

With renewed energy in the second half, the La Liga and European giants looked poised to turn it around again but were dealt a big blow in the 54th minute when Schjelderup bagged his brace to make it 3–1 for Benfica against the run of play.
Four minutes after Schjelderup’s second goal, Mbappe gave Los Blancos the lifeline again, scoring to halve the deficit.
His second goal set the stage for a nervy finish to the game as they needed just one goal to draw the game and seal their place in the Champions League top 8.
Just at the last touch of the ball, Benfica goalkeeper Trubin sealed the win for the Jose Mourinho-led side, effectively forcing Real Madrid out of the top eight.
Mbappe refused to spare the hints reacting to the loss in post-match press interview. According to him, his teammates are to blame for the poor performance, especially for how they conceded the last goal.
“Today wasn’t a matter of tactics or quality. It was a matter of having more fighting spirit than the opponent. I saw Benfica play for their lives, and I didn’t see that from us… The last goal we conceded was a disgrace.”
The loss saw Real Madrid finished just a point behind the top eight and will now wait to learn their knockout playoffs opponent.
They return to action on Sunday, February 1, 2026 against Rayo Vallecano in the La Liga.
