Mbappé Becomes Youngest Player of the Century to Reach 400 Career Goals

Kylian Mbappé continues to redefine modern football greatness, becoming the youngest player this century to reach 400 career goals after scoring twice in France’s 4–0 victory over Ukraine to seal qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, MySportDab Reports.

The Real Madrid superstar’s second goal of the night carried historic weight, lifting him into an elite category of goalscorers.

Only Pelé reached the milestone at a younger age, with the Brazilian icon hitting 400 goals by 23. Mbappé, now 26, stands alone as the fastest to reach the mark in the 21st century.

His path to 400 has been fuelled by a blistering start to the 2025–26 season, netting 23 goals in 20 appearances across club and international matches.

Mbappé’s scoring journey includes 27 goals for Monaco, 256 for Paris Saint-Germain, 62 for Real Madrid, and 55 for the French national team.

Despite the historic achievement, Mbappé was quick to downplay the significance, showing the relentless ambition that has defined his career. “400 goals doesn’t impress people,” he said. “I want to leave my mark in football history, so I need to score 400 more. There’s one with 950-plus goals and another with 900-plus. So 400 goals isn’t enough.”

The Frenchman’s comments allude to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi—players whose legendary numbers set the standard for football immortality.

Yet Mbappé’s current scoring pace surpasses both legends at the same age, strengthening arguments that he is on track to join, and perhaps surpass, the greatest goalscorers of all time.

Among players to reach 400 goals this century, Mbappé leads the list ahead of Messi (27 years, 3 months), Ronaldo (28 years, 10 months), Robert Lewandowski, and Harry Kane.

If his trajectory continues, Mbappé may soon be rewriting not just milestones—but history itself.
