Gianluigi Donnarumma Set For Man City Move

PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is set to join Manchester City from the Ligue 1 champions, MySportDab reports.

According to L’Equipe, the 26-year-old has spoken with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and has an agreement in place with the Spaniard to switch to the Etihad outfit.

The Italian shot stopper who has one year left on his PSG contract, has seen his time at the Parc des Princes cut short after PSG refused to renew his contract but went on to sign Lucas Chevalier instead.

He made 104 appearances across all competitions for PSG and was left out of the club’s UEFA Super Cup squad against Tottenham Hotspurs.

Donnarumma reiterated his disappointment with PSG’s handling of his transfer exit, claiming that “someone decided that I can no longer be part of the group and contribute to the team’s success. I am disappointed and disheartened.”

His agent Enzo Raiola also echoed the same sentiment, blasting PSG for their handling of his client’s transfer and adding they will consider taking legal action against the Parisians.

“We are shocked by PSG. There’s zero respect. We are considering legal action. Gigi was even ready to reduce his salary but PSG changed the conditions again,” he said.

Raiola also also added they had long begun the process to find a new club for Donnarumma with English clubs interested.

“We will consider solutions, maybe in England there will be clubs able to pay what’s needed”

At the heart of Donnarumma’s fallout with PSG is both his wages and the decision of the team’s head coach Luis Enrique.

According to close sources, PSG wanted to peg down his current £208,000-per-week wages before offering him a new deal.

Per his agent Raiola, he agreed to the intended wage cut, but Luis Enrique still wanted him out for a new goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier.

Manchester United and Chelsea were big mentions in the race for the player. However, Man City are now set to hijack the move after the player spoke with Guardiola.

He has agreed to join the seven-time Premier League champions and could be the best replacement for City’s number one Ederson who has been strongly linked with a move to Galatasaray.
