Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr’s future at Real Madrid is once again on the balance, MySportDab reports.
The 26-year-old could be nearing the finish line in his Real Madrid spell as both parties struggle to agree fresh terms for a new contract.
Recall Real Madrid had entered into contract renewal talks with the winger since last season and have yet to broker a deal.
At the heart of the standoff is disagreement over wages terms. Close sources reveal Vinicius Jr wants to be made the club’s highest-paid player or at least match the current pecking of the club’s highest earner and 2023 arrival from PSG Kylian Mbappe.
Real Madrid have refused to agree to the proposal both for dressing room order and financial reasons.
At the time of filing this report, it is still deadlocked on both ends with no progress in sight, and it appears Vinicius may heading to the exit door come next summer.
According to Cadena SER, Real Madrid are not moved by the prospect of losing Vinicius Jr should the attempts on a new deal fail through.
The report adds that the European giants are ready to sell the Brazilian attacking sensation next summer if no new deal is in place.
Vinicius Jr’s current deal with the Los Blancos will run through 2027, hence Real Madrid’s latest move is to forestall the prospect of losing him for free.
The player has been linked to a move to Saudi Arabia since last season and is also on the radar of top European clubs who are monitoring the contract situation.
While he has publicly affirmed his resolve for a lengthy spell with Madrid, a shock transfer exit next summer is not ruled out as things stand.
