Arsenal have secured their sixth signing this summer, adding Spanish center-back Cristhian Mosquera to their defence options, MySportDab reports.
The Gunners had been on the trail of the Valencia defender as they look to bolster their backline options heading into the next campaign.
Negotiations had been ongoing and now all is now settled for the player to join the Gunners.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League runners-up have reached an agreement with Valencia for a deal worth €15m plus less than €5m add-ons for Mosquera.
Mosquera is understood to have played a significant role in the move as he agreed to personal terms with the Gunners and was ready for a new chapter with the Londoners.
He is Arsenal’s first defensive signing this summer and the club’s sixth addition alongside Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, Christian Norgaard from Brentford, Noni Madueke and Kep Arrizabalaga from Chelsea, and lately Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon.
Mosquera plays as a left-back and is more likely to be deployed as a back-up option for the Gunners behind their first-choice defenders William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.
The 21-year-old graduated from the Valencia academy and made his first senior club appearance for the club in 2021. He has rack up 82 La Liga appearances for the club since then scoring one goal.
Also, he has yet to make his appearance for Spain senior national team but has played at every youth levels of the team and is currently a member of their U21 squad.
Mosquera was famed in the Valencia youth systems for his technical abilities, intelligence, quick movement, and anticipation.
His strength also lies in his versatility. He can play both center-back and full-back roles and is tipped to scale through the ranks in Arsenal’s defense options under Arteta’s style of play.
