Arsenal Reach Agreement For Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal ars close to signing Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon this summer, MySportDab reports.

After grueling injury blows to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus severely impacted the Gunners’ chances last season, they are in the transfer market for a striker.

Notably, Mikel Arteta, relying on his signature possessive style with attacking ranks built on midfielders, is ready to shift from tradition this summer.

The Spaniard is ready to secure his first traditional number nine to spearhead the team’s attack next season.

Gyokeres, who is also a top target for Manchester United, has been on a priority target for this role alongside RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko.

According to the latest reports, the Gunners have now moved a step closer to secure the services of Gyokeres. They have reportedly settled personal terms with the player, offering him a five-year contract.

They are also set to open talks with Sporting Lisbon for the player. Meanwhile, it is understood Sporting and Gyokeres are not on same page over the latter’s exit conditions.

Gyokeres has insisted he had agreed with the club for him to be allowed to leave on a €60m transfer fee this summer while Sporting have insisted he will only be allowed to leave for €70m.

Arsenal is reportedly open to meeting the €60m transfer fee but it is yet unclear whether they will top up the additional €10m demanded by Sporting to settle club terms.

Meanwhile, Gyokeres has made his intentions of not playing for Sporting Lisbon and taking  up a new challenge next season clear with Arsenal his likely next destination.
