FCWC: Pachuca 1-2 Salzburg, Onisiwo Nets Winner! [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]

Salzburg have opened their FIFA Club World match with a win over Mexican club Pachuca, MySportDab reports.

The Austrian side defied the odds and etched out the Hidalgo-based side to secure all three points in the tournament.

It was largely a balanced game with both sides having a fair share of possession and completed passes.

However, Pachuca proved to be the better side on the attack but couldn’t have the stars line up for a needed triumph.

They were more deadly when charging forward, firing 17 shots with seven on target while Salzburg managed 10 shots with five on target.

Although the games trajectory tilted more in favour of Pachuca, Salzburg opened the scoring three minutes before the break.

Isreali attacking midfielder Oscar Gloukh scored the only goal in the first half to give Salzburg the lead.

However, with a ding-dong first half, it was obvious, Pachuca will try to come back into the game but the were out of time in the first 45 to do so.

The second half was no different from the first but Pachuca stepped up their game immensely pushing to find the equaliser.

And 11 minutes into the restart, they came back with the equaliser. 22-year-old Mexican left-back Bryan Gonzalez scored in the 56th minute to make it 1-1.

A dragging goal drought set in after Gonzalez’s goal before Salzburg were able to break the deadlock again.

33-year-old Austrian winger Karim Onisiwo scored in the 76th minute and this goal proved the final sucker punch to secure the Austrian giants an unlikely win.

They will play Al-Hilal in their next match while Pachuca takes on Real Madrid
