Neymar Signs New Santos Contract

Neymar has signed a new contract with Santos to extend his spell with the club, MySportDab reports.

Recall the former Barcelona and PSG sensation rejoined the boyhood club after his blighted spell with Saudi giants Al-Hilal.

Niggling injury crises and a subsequent fallout with the club’s management led to the two parties agreeing to end their collaboration through termination of his contract.

He rejoined Santos on a short-term six-month contract – a move that underscores his decision to still return to European football after the Saudi deadlock.

It hasn’t been a groundbreaking return to his roots for the player, but he hasn’t disappointed either. The 33-year-old has three goals plus three assists in seven Paulista appearances for Santos since his return.

He has also made four league appearances for the team, including one in the Copa Do Brasil. This promising performance was however halted by an injury that sidelined him for weeks.

Despite the setbacks, he is understood to be a key part of Santos’ plans for the season due to his on-field contributions and influence off the field hence the decision to tie him to a new deal.

This new deal will see him finish the remaining Brazil Serie A season with the team which will be wrapped up in December 2026. Santos confirmed the new deal in a club statement on social media.

Meanwhile, Neymar is still hopeful of returning to Europe and is expected to make a decision on his future when the current new deal expires in January 2026, per Fabrizio Romano.

Notably, the 33-year-old’s spell with Santos could be considered a big gain for the player in his attempt to revive both his club and international career.

He has been recalled to the Brazil national team by new manager Carlo Ancelotti for the first time since the Saudi deadlock.
