Manchester United Open Talks For Top-rated EPL Striker

Manchester United have doubled down on their attempt to beef up the team’s attack heading into next campaign, MySportDab reports.

Just a few days after adding Matheus Cunha from Wolves to their attacking options, the Red Devils have opened talks with another Premier League club to poach a top-rated forward as they prepare for a make-or-mar run next season.

The new striker target in question is Bryan Mbeumo. Mbeumo was a revelation in Brentford’s attack in the just-concluded campaign.

The former Troyes forward and Cameroon international reached his career-best goal tally in the season, scoring a staggering 20 Premier League goals for the Bees.

He also bagged seven assists, taking his goal contributions to 27 – his highest tally in a single campaign.

This standout performance has seen him attract interest from top clubs in Europe with United now leading the race to secure his services.

According to GiveMeSports chief football correspondent, Ben Jacobs, Manchester United have opened club-to-club talks with Brentford for the 25-year-old.

He is understood to have a £50million release clause on his contract but Brentford reportedly want a fee in excess of the release clause.

The report also claims the Bees are using United’s £62million offer to Wolves for Matheus Cunha as a yardstick to estimate Mbeumo’s value and are not likely to go below £60million before sanctioning a deal.

Notably, the West Londoners are on the front foot in the negotiation table with United for the player because they are not in a hurry to sell.

Mbeumo has 12 months left in his contract, including a one-year extension option. This means United may have to meet Brentford’s asking price to sign him.

Meanwhile, personal terms have been reportedly settled as Mbeumo has given the nod for the move.
