Liverpool Enter Race For Red-hot Striker To Replace Darwin Nunez

Liverpool have joined other clubs in the race for a top-rated forward as the prepare for the exit of Darwin Nunez, MySportDab reports.

After a promising debut spell, Nunez has fallen off the pecking order in the Reds’ attacking options lately.

The Uruguayan has two years left on his deal but is expected to leave this summer for a new chapter due to lack of game time.

It is understood Napoli are on Liverpool’s heels to sign the forward but have yet to make an offer with the player equally open to joining the Serie A giants.

With his imminent exit looming, Liverpool have reportedly joined their Premier League and European rivals in the race for Viktor Gyokeres.

The Reds reportedly consider the red-hot Swedish forward as a perfect replacement for Nunez and are ready to go all out for his services.

However, it is not likely to be an easy transfer move for them given a long list of clubs already in the queue for Gyokeres.

Top on the list are the Reds’ domestic rivals Manchester United and Arsenal, who have been linked to the player from the start of the summer.

Barcelona were also a big mention in the race for the player, including Arsenal’s London arch-rivals Chelsea. However, it is understood Arsenal are more likely to win the race with the player said to have preferred a move to the Emirates.

Nevertheless, Liverpool are still expected to pull some weight in the race for Gyokeres even with their late entry given their recent fortunes.

No club has submitted an offer to Sporting for the player yet with the Portuguese side open to his exit but only on their terms – which has been contested by the players’ camp.

Nevertheless, Gyokeres is expected to leave the Portuguese side this summer with the Premier League being his likely next stop.

With the fallout on his exit terms from Sporting, the highest-bidder may likely win the race to sign him with Liverpool in good standing to contest the bidding war.
