Leicester City Sack Ruud Van Nistelrooy

Ruud Van Nistelroy is no longer Leicester City manager as the club have decided to part ways with the Man United legend as manager, MySportDab reports.

The Foxes announced the decision to end their collaboration with Nistelrooy in an official club statement on their website.

“Leicester City Football Club and Ruud van Nistelrooy have mutually agreed that Ruud’s contract with the Club as First Team Manager will terminate with immediate effect,” the club statement reads.

Ruud Van Nistelroy joined Leicester City midway through last season on a two-and-a-half-year contract till 2027.

He had two years left on his deal but his future in the Foxes’dugout was understood to be under intense scrutiny after an underwhelming campaign.

Under his watch, Leicester City got relegated back to the Championship with five matches left before the end of the season.

Overall, he managed just five wins in 27 games as Leicester City manager, losing 19 and drawing 3. This takes his win percentage with the Foxes to meager 18.5% – his least score tally as a manager.

Notably, Nistelrooy’s sack as Leicester City marks a new low in his burgeoning managerial career. The 48-year-old hit the peaks of managerial career while at PSV Einhoven.

He led the club to Johan Cruyff Shield in 2022 and then the Dutch Cup in 2023. This was followed with a brilliant shift as Man United interim first-team manager, where he won three of his four matches drawing one.

It is understood Leicester City are now in the market for his replacement and he is ready for a new challenge elsewhere.
