FT: Manchester 4-1 Athletic Bilbao, Mason Mount’s Brace Fire Red Devils To UEL Final! [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]

Mason Mount produced a second-half masterclass as Manchester United came from behind to thrash Athletic Bilbao 4-1 in Europa League semi-final first leg, MySportDab reports.

United went into the game one leg into the final following an impressive 3-0 away win over the La Liga side in the first leg in Spain.

However, it was still a tricky tie for the struggling Ruben Amorim’s side, who have taken their fans through the cringers this season with countless underwhelming performances.

Meanwhile, Athletic Bilbao boast a stellar European and domestic run but faced a huge task to overturn the three-goal deficit at Old Trafford.

Notably, Ernesto Valverde’s side gave the away fans something to hold on to with a brilliant start to the game at Old Trafford.

A minute after the half hour, 21-year-old Spanish attacking midfielder Mikel Jauregizar fired the away side into the lead to reduce the aggregate deficit.

It was a brilliant effort by the youngster , one enough to condemn the hosts to a first-half loss.

In the second half, the dynamics of the game shifted entirely in United’s favour. Mason Mount opened the scoring for the home side to level the tie in the 72nd minute.

Seven minutes later, Casemiro gave United the lead. Six minutes after the Brazilian’s goal, Rasmus Hojlund scored a tap-in from Amad Diallo’s cross to make it 3-1.

And it wasn’t over yet. A minute into stoppage time, Mason Mount bagged his brace to seal a dramatic 4-1 victory for a place in the final.
