Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson has broken his silence on his clash with Pep Guardiola during FA Cup final clash against Man City on Saturday, MySportDab reports.
Crystal Palace celebrated their first-ever trophy following a narrow 1-0 win over the Premier League giants, but the game was marred with heated moments.
In the first half , Henderson appeared to have handled the ball outside the box, leading to a foul and Man City free-kick.
However, the decision was controversial with calls for Henderson to be red-carded. After a lengthy check on the pitchside monitor, the referee still considers it not enough to warrant a red card for English goalie. The decision came to the dismay of Pep Guardiola and the Man City bench.
After the match, Guardiola, reeling with frustration, walked up to the former Man United goalie to register his displeasure.
The pair were momentarily caught up in a row before the intervention of others. It was still unclear what they said to each other.
However, Dean Henderson spilled his own side of the story after the match when asked about what transpired.
According to him, he told Guardiola that “he (Guardiola) got the 10 minutes that he wanted.”
This was a satirical remark on the added time in the match that still could not enable Man City to come back into the game.
Eberechi Eze’s first-half goal was all the Eagles needed to edge out the Cityzens and secure their first-ever trophy and a slot in the Europa League next season.
Henderson dedicated the trophy to his late Dad, whom he admitted died recently.
