FT: Leicester 0-1 Liverpool, Trent’s Late WINNER Relegate Leicester City From EPL! [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]

Liverpool have defeated Leicester City to close in their first Premier League title in six years while the Foxes got relegated from the English top flight, MySportDab reports.

The two sides went into the game with a lot at stake. After Arsenal narrowed the gap at the top to 10 points following a 4-0 away win over Fulham, Liverpool needed victory to restore their 13-point lead.

Meanwhile, Leicester City had their Premier League survival hopes on the balance heading into the match. They needed victory to still stay in contention to remain in the English top flight and a defeat would confirm them relegated with five matches to spare.

It was a strongly contested clash from the start. Leicester City held their nerves despite Liverpool’s pressure and were occasionally threatening the visitors with counterattacks. The half hour was crossed with both sides unable to find the back of net.

In the second half, Leicester City looked set to hold Liverpool to a goalless draw and ran out with a point but they were finally undone late in the game.

After hitting the woodwork twice in a peak pressure point at the game, Trent Alexander-Arnold was left to poke home a cool left-footed finish on the right side of the net.

The 77th-minute strike saw Liverpool secure all three points to re-open their 13 point gap at the top of the table and close in on their first Premier League title in six years.

Meanwhile, Leicester City have now been relegated from the English top flight with five matches to spare.
