FT: Liverpool 1-1 Fulham, The Reds Qualify For EFL Cup Final [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]

Liverpool survived Fulham scare to advance to the final of EFL Cup setting up a rollercoaster Carabao Cup final clash with Chelsea, MySportDab reports.

It wasn’t going to be an easy tie for the Reds going to Craven Cottage against the Marco Silva-led team, who had hoped to harvest their pound of flesh, having stumbled to defeats twice against the Merseyside club this season.

The Jurgen Klopp-led team headed into the game with a 2-1 lead in the first leg and needed to complete the job with just a draw to book their place in the final of the competition.

Luis Diaz came up clutch for the Reds just 11 minutes into the game. The goal was enough to fire the Reds into the lead at the break.

Fulham came out stronger in the second half but struggled to find a breakthrough at Liverpool’s end. In the 76th minute, Liverpool met their woes as Issa Diop evened the scores for the hosts.

With 14 minutes left to play, the game went nervy with both sides on the crossroads to EFL Cup final. Another goal for Fulham would have forced the game into extra time and Liverpool needed another magic moment to secure their aggregate lead.

Both sides made frantic efforts to take the lead all to no avail. It ended squares at the blast of the final whistle with Liverpool progressing to the final with a 3-2 aggregate victory.

Having ended last season without trophy and missing out of Champions League, Liverpool are back to gears for a terrific season.

They are in Europa League, FA Cup, top of the Premier League table, and have now progressed to EFL Cup final where they will take on Chelsea at Wembley in a rematch of 2022 final.
