FT: Manchester United 3-0 Nottingham Forest, Martial and Rashford STRIKE! (VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS)

Manchester United have resumed their Premier League campaign after the World Cup break with a deserved victory over Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford, MySportDab reports.

First Half Report

Manchester United dominated the game as the first half began, mounting intense pressure on the visitors.

The Red Devils created some series of chances in the game, with a stellar performance but had to wait till the 19th minute before taking the lead.

The goal came via a corner kick. Bournemouth had conceded a corner kick and the Red Devils chose to pass the corner instead of firing a shot into the box.

It was Christian Eriksen who took the corner, sending a long pass to Marcus Rashford, who just fired straight into the net to give Manchester United the lead.

Despite going one goal up, Manchester United still held sway over the game as they continued to dominate proceedings.

It was clear the Red Devils were certainly set to secure another goal sooner than later after they continued to drive forcefully into the opponents’ box and did not allow any space for the visitors to launch attacks.

Three minutes after the first goal, the Red Devils recorded another goal to secure the lead.

United picked on a counterattack after Casemiro produced a stunning tackle to win the ball near the United box.

Marcus Rashford was located in the left flank with a long pass. Instead of smashing it on goal, Rashford sent a pass to Martial in the middle, who fired from long range to score Manchester United’s second.

Nottingham Forest put one back before the halftime break, but the goal was ruled out. Manchester United went into the first-half break with a deserved 2-0 lead.

Second Half Report

Nothing changed as the second half began. Manchester United still dominated proceedings.

Nottingham Forest did little to curtail the dominance of the home side despite trailing by two goals.

It was another stellar performance by the Red Devils throughout, as they comfortably dominated possession and searched for a third goal to put the game beyond the visitors.

The match continued with both sides unable to find the back of the net until the 87th minute when Fred scored to sink the visitors.

Manchester United won 3-0 after the final whistle to close in on the Premier League top four.
