Barcelona have defeated 9-man Elche to secure another vital La Liga win as they chase Real Madrid in the title race, MySportDab reports.

First Half

The first half began with Barcelona taking control of the game as they dominated Elche throughout the game.

It was a slippery game for Elche as they had to battle with only nine men after two players were red-carded in the first half.

In the 14th minute, Verdu was issued a red card, giving Barcelona an additional edge in the game with more minutes left to be played.

Barcelona were already taking charge of the match and were equally pushing through with more advantage as the game proceeded with one of their opponent down.

Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring in the 34th minute after a brilliant assist by Balde, giving the Catalans a 1-0 lead.

A few minutes later, Balde’s assist again saw Memphis Depay double the lead for Barcelona, making it 2-0.

Another dramatic scene from Elche saw one of their players (Rodriquez) sent off again in the 41st minute, just at the stroke of halftime.

This further puts the game off balance for Elche as they withdraw into the defense to avoid conceding more goals till the first half ended.

Second Half

In the second half, Barcelona continued their dominance as they had no difficulty against a 9-man Elche.

Lewandowski struck again in the 48th minute to complete his double against Elche, making it 3-0.

The game was far beyond Elche after conceding three goals with two men down, but they were able to hold on till the final whistle.
