FT: Chelsea 1-3 Real Madrid, Benzema Bags HAT-TRICK! (VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS)

Karim Benzema scored a hat trick as Real Madrid beat Chelsea 1-3 in the first leg of the Champions League clash, MySportDab reports.

First Half Report 

The first half was filled with so many talking points from both teams who did well enough to make sure they make something count going forward.

Things looked good as Real Madrid dominated play going forward and created the opportunities of the game which almost resulted in an early goal happening.

Chelsea was poor as Andreas Christensen was slow to cover up a 1-2 made my Vinicius which resulted in a cross that Karim Benzema finished which his head to make it 0-1 in the 21st minutes.

Karim Benzema immediately made it his brace in the 23rd minute of the encounter after another good delivery from Modric which he scored with another header to make the scoreline 0-2 as it progressed.

The game continued looking good for the side from Spain who made more opportunities until Kai Havertz pulled one back with a header in the 40th minute making it 1-2.

That was the last action of the first half which ended with Chelsea 1-2 Real Madrid as they both headed inside for the break after 45 minutes of football played at Stamford Bridge.

Second Half Report 

The second half started with the Champions pushing forward looking to level things after their poor defending in the first 45 minutes of the encounter.

Real Madrid wasted no time in adding to their advantage as an error from Edouard Mendy saw Karim Benzema take advantage and made it 1-3 and hat trick.

Chelsea was no good in their opportunities which saw Thomas Tuchel digging deep into his bench and introducing new players onto the pitch as things continued.

The match didn’t provide anything much as they approached the added time which was given 5 minutes for the Blues to make something happen.

The encounter ended with a poor one for Chelsea who lost 1-3 at home against Real Madrid who has a two-goal advantage heading into the second leg.
