AFCON 2021: Eric Bailly Misses Penalty As Ivory Coast Crash Out In Last-16 (VIDEO)

Eric Bailly’s penalty miss in the AFCON 2021 match Egypt dumped Ivory Coast out of the tournament on Wednesday night, MySportDab reports. 

Fans have now criticised the Manchester United defender for his penalty run-up.

Ivory Coast failed to reach the quarter-finals of the competition after being held to a 0-0 draw Egypt.

This lead to a penalty shootout after extra time.

Bailly missed the only penalty from 12 yards on the night, and his got tipped on the crossbar by Egypt goalkeeper Mohammed El Shenawy.

The 27-year-old stepped up third for Ivory Coast in the penalty shootout, did so with a strange technique.

He took only one step before looking away when shooting the ball towards the Goalkeeper.

His penalty was saved and Patrice Beaumelle’s team have now crashed out of AFCON, leaving fans in frustrated.

A fan on Twitter wrote: ‘Bailly doing a no-look penalty??? He is a sick.’

Another wrote: ”When you watch too many videos of Bruno.”

Another fan said: ‘Who told him to try this rubbish technique?’

A fourth wrote: ‘Bailly is not okay. He literally just got his country knocked out with a no-look penalty.’

Bailly travelled to play for Ivory Coast at AFCON leaving behind a frustrating season at United.

He has only played four Premier League matches this season for Manchester United.

After Ivory Coast out, Egypt and Salah will face Morocco on Sunday in the AFCON 2021 quarter-finals.
