Nigeria Appoints New Super Eagles Coach (Details)

The Nigeria Super Eagles have gotten a new coach, MySportDab reports.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced this today, Sunday 15th May 2022.

According to a statement released by the apex football governing authority in the country,  Jose Peseiro is now the new coach of the Nigeria Super Eagles.

The statement urged Peseiro to resume work immediately as the Coach of one of the most renowned national teams in Africa.

The last indigenous manager of the Super Eagles squad, Austin Eguavoen, had resigned a few months ago.

Eguavoen crashed out of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Cameroon after winning all group matches.

He also failed to qualify Nigeria for the Qatar 2022 World Cup as the Super Eagles lost the ticket to the Black Stars of Ghana on away goals rule.

MySportDab learnt that Jose Peseiro had previously had a deal with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which failed to come through months ago.

But the NFF has asserted that the contract terms have finally been determined and agreed upon and that Peseiro will resume duties immediately.

“Our expectation from Peseiro is that he will take charge of the Super Eagles’ upcoming friendly matches and tour of the United States of America.”

Former Nigerian international Finidi George is expected to assist Peseiro as the new coach of the Super Eagles.

It has also been confirmed that Salisu Yusuf will be the 2nd Assistant Coach and will lead the home-based Eagles.

NFF also named Usman Abdallah as thr third assistant coach while Eboboritse Uwejamomere will serve as a match analyst, and Ike Shorounmu is now the goalkeeper trainer.

Peseiro is a 62-year-old Portuguese and has managed top clubs in Portugal, including national team’s across the major football continents.
