Manchester United Injury News: Lingard, Cavani, Varane, Rashford Return Date

Manchester United injury news and return dates for first team players confirmed, MySportDab reports.

United are keen to make it two wins to the start of the new 2021/22 Premier League season when they face Southampton on Sunday.

United travel to the St Mary’s after their 5-1 opening day win against Leeds United at Old Trafford last week.

An hat-trick from Bruno Fernandes and goals from Mason Greenwood and Fred completed the job for United.

Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hope that his team can follow up that win with another victory against Southampton.

Manchester United Team News

Dean Henderson

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson will not be part of the match against Southampton as he continues to recover from Covid-19.

The player tested positive for the virus last month and has taken several weeks to recover.

Despite missing the trip to St Mary’s, Henderson has returned back to light training.

Return date: September 14th Upward.

Raphael Varane

Varane could make his debut for Manchester United against Southampton after his arrival from Real Madrid.

He lacked match fitness before starting training at United since France crashed out of the European Championship in June.

However, United Coach Solskjaer confirmed on Friday that Varane would be in the squad to face Southampton.

Return date: Southampton Match

Jesse Lingard

Lingard missed the opening match of the season against Leeds after a positive Covid-19 test last week.

Today, Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Lingard is fit and available.

Solskjaer said: “Jesse is back to full fitness, he played well in the behind-closed-doors match on Tuesday. He’s in good shape and got a big part to play.”

Return date: Could play in Southampton match.

Edinson Cavani

Cavani has returned back to train with United after a six-week absence from the club on holiday.

The Uruguay International returned to England earlier this month but only returned to training this week.

Cavani is unlikely to play this week against Southampton but could play next week against Wolvers at Molineux.

Return date: Late August.

Marcus Rashford

Rashford is United’s longest-term injury absentee.

The England man will not make an appearance for Manchester United for some time.

Rashford underwent shoulder surgery after he played at Euro 2020 with shoulder problems and a foot injury.

Some few weeks back, United confirmed that the surgery was a success and they hoped to see him back very soon.

Return date: Early October.

There are other players still unavailable for Manchester United right now like Eric Bailly, and Phil Jones.
